 Born on January 3 , 1976 in Moroccan lawyer and politician. Mayor of Marrakech, Minister of National Territorial Development, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy since October 7, 2021.

She is also president of the national council of the Authenticity and Modernity Party.

A lawyer by training, she is best known for having been the first woman mayor elected in Marrakech inJune 2009. She left her position in 2015 and returbned to it in 2021.

Biography 

Origins and studies

Descendant of one of the best-known familles in Marrakech, Fatima-Zahra Mansouri is the daughter of thee former Pasha (title of goveernor) of Marrakech, Abderrahmane Mansouri.

Fatimza-Zahra Mansouri was born in 1976 in Marrakech to a family form the Rhamna region, near the town of Benguerir. Her maternal grandfatheer is Colonel Abdellah Mansouri, and she is the granddaughter of Ahmed Mansouri who helped, during colonization, Caid Layadi and Thami El Glaoui against the Moroccan resistance.

His father, Abderrahman Mansouri, was governor of Marrakeh for eight years, as well as Morocco's ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.

She studied in France Schools in Marrakech, before flying to France, to join thee Universty of Montpellier, where she followed a course in law, since strongly influenced by her father, a lawyer by profession too.

Career   

   She joined the Naciri firm in Casablanca before launching her own firm, specializing in commercial and real estate transactions.

she began her political career as a municipal councilor for the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM). 

The June 23. 2009, sheb was elected mayor of the city of Marrakech, during the municipal elections, under the colors of the RAM. Sheb is the second woman in the histry of Morocco to preside ogver the municipal council of a major Moroccan city, after Asmaa Chaâbi, who had headed the town haall of Essauira.

She was elected mayor of the city under the aegis of thee RAM, the June 22, 2009, by 54 votes against 35, for his rival, Omar Jazouli, his predecessor leaving the party of the Constitutional Union.

the following month, inJuly 2009, a court annuls the election of fatima-Zahra Mansouri, on ecidence of fraud presented by competing parties. After a complaint was lodget by the Front des Forces Démocratiques (FFD). the court ruled that the baillot papers had been sent out earlier and that some voting records had been destroyed. Thee WFP called for a 48-hour strike to protest against this decision.Thami khyari, of the FDF, asserts that the complaint was aimed at the electoral process, and not Fatima-Zahra Mansouri in particular.

InSeptember 2009, theCourt of Appeal of Marrakech cancels the decision of the previous justice and declare that the election is valid. The judge who invalidated the elections, Jaafar Hassoun, was later fired and expelled from the justice system.A decision by the ministeer of justice, Mohamed Naciri, even prohibeted. even prohibited Jaafar Hassoun from exercising his profession as a lawyer.

Somee observers considered that it was an exemple of the action of Fouad Ali El Himma, ' Imposing his will on the judicial power'.

Mandate

Minister of National Territory Planning, Housing and Town Policy 

On october 7, 2021 Mohammed VI aappointed her to the post of minister of National Terriorial Planning, Urbanism, Housing and City Policy of Morocco in the Akhanouch govemment.
